a) Remember that line in Liber Tzaddi about "as my adepts attain this balanced force and power, so faster shall I push them" (quoting from memory). We're magicians; we signed up for continual growth and change. Were we stupid, or what? :>
b) Start experimenting. There's a new thing-that-works waiting for you to find and use it, but it may take a little exploration to find it, and a little tinkering to use it.
c) Draw on your brothers and sisters for help. There's a reason we do this in teams.
Good luck...as a fellow member of the "Life-shaking WTF" crew, I know what it's like. Feel free to drop by for a drink and any required crying or screaming, any time you like.
I step away and try a new angle on the situation. It's not exactly to say that I step away from the thing completely; it's I need the breathing room from the situation so that I can see what the attachment is and if it's healthy but damaged then find ways to repair it and if it's unhealthy, find a way to cut it without causing too much damage and make sure the cut is clean and cauterized so as to prevent reattachment.
Cuz sometimes, I'm kinda zen that way.
That or I go and yell into a pillow until it turns to tears and then it all feels better. . .YMMV.
Sometimes its hard to give up an attachment to a way that may have worked well in the past. I'm going thru this as well - but to grow and move and learn in this universe, we _have_ to look for other ways, be kind to ourselves for both being attached and congratulate ourselves on being brave enough to look and try for another path.
*hugs and love to you, I have faith you'll find your way thru it, maybe with some more help from your friends
Well dang it. Craig DID say it better than I could. So yeas, what he said. Of course, my dearest, you know you can always come by here for coffee talk.
